Express Glass Island Challenge

With only 6 weeks before the Express Glass Island Challenge, entry numbers are growing steadily and we hope your swim training is well underway so that you'll be ready for the first big Island swim of the summer season on Sunday November 27th.

Make sure you enter online ASAP to avoid disapointment. To register, go to www.oceanswims.com or click here

As a past swimmer of this event you may be aware of the conditions from last year that swimmers had deal with. The event was run with unseasonably cold water temperature and a number of people had to be rescued due to hypothermia.

As a result of this, we would like to inform our returning swimmers that this year we have a new safety rule in place. If the water temperature on the day is below 18 degrees celsius, swimmers can wear a wetsuit. This rule has been introduced to ensure the safety of all swimmers and we hope that all people participating in the event will take caution if the water is below this temperature.

If you haven't already heard about the new eastern suburbs swim series, the Express Glass Island Challenge is now part of the new eastern suburbs swim series, named 'The Sunday Telegraph Ocean Swim Series'.

The swim series includes other local events, proudly brought to us by The Sunday Telegraph and you will see all the swim series advertisements in their Sunday paper from October 23rd.

This year, Eyeline will be providing swim caps for the event, along with our range of Coogee Surf Club merchandise.  Merchandise will be available on the day if you would like purchase yourself a pair of Coogee swim wear or clothing.

We'll have some more announcements coming soon from our naming rights sponsor Express Glass and our supporting partners.

We loook forward to seeing you soon at Coogee on the day of the swim, until then, keep up the training.

Regards
